Gujarati Khichu

Gujarati Khichu is a traditional Gujarati snack easy to prepare and can be relished for breakfast and snacks.


    Fine quality rice :-

    Green moong dal :-

    Peppercorns :-

    Turmeric powder :-

    Water :-

    Clarified butter or ghee :-

In a bowl, combine moong dal and rice. First wash and then soak it. Now drain.

Transfer rice-dal mixture in a pressure cooker and put salt, peppercorns, water and turmeric powder into it.

Cook this mixture for four whistles and after that take off the pressure cooker from heat. Keep aside.

Take Khichu out from the pressure cooker and pour ghee in it.

Serve hot with papad and kadhi.

Serving Suggestions

    Garnish with chopped coriander and grated coconut. Serve hot.
