Turkey Sloppy Joes

An ideal dish for a children’s party; where the adults can also enjoy getting a little messy.

A tasty calorie loaded dish that is filled with cheese and lots of other savoury delights.

ingredients

    Olive oil: 1 tablespoon(s)

    Carrots, coarsely grated: 4

    Onion, minced: 1

    Garlic, minced: 1 clove

    Coarse salt

    Ground pepper

    Tomato paste: 3 tablespoons

    Ground turkey: 3/4 pounds

    Crushed tomatoes: 1 can

    Dark-brown sugar: 2 tablespoons

    Cider vinegar: 1 tablespoon

    Worcestershire sauce: 1 teaspoon

    Whole-wheat hamburger rolls, split: 4

Take a medium large saucepan add oil and heat over a medium high flame. Add the onions, garlic and carrots. Salute the vegetables till they soften. Season the mixture for salt and pepper. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes.

In the same saucepan add tomato puree and stir with the ingredients for a minute. Introduce the turkey into the mixture and cook the meat till it is no longer pink. Cook for 4-5 minutes.

Lastly add the remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook continuously till the mixture thickens slightly. Cook the mixture for 14 to 15 minutes.

Fill the wheat bread with the mixture and serve warm.

Serving Suggestions

    Serve with melted ketchup or mayonnaise or cheesy dip.
