Enjoy this vegetable fried rice with any spicy Chinese gravy dish


  • Rice, cooked 2 cups
  • Oil 3 tbsps
  • Garlic, finely chopped 3 tsps
  • Ginger, finely chopped ½ tbsp
  • Medium onion, cut into roundels and halved 1
  • Green chillies, finely chopped 2 to 3
  • Spring onions, finely chopped 3
  • Carrots, finely chopped ¼ cup
  • French beans, finely chopped ½ cup
  • Cabbage, finely shredded ½ cup
  • Sugar 1½ tsps
  • Soy sauce 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste


  • Heat 3 tbsps oil in a deep non-stick pan, add garlic, ginger, onion and green chillies and saute, stirring, for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add spring onions, carrot, French beans and cabbage and mix well.
  • Add sugar and soy sauce.
  • Add rice and mix gently to prevent the rice grains from breaking. Cook till the rice gets heated through.
  • Add salt, mix and serve hot.
