When the kids get back from playing, give them these bars for quick energy boost


  • Honey 5 tbsps
  • Dried cherries 1 cup
  • Oats 1 cup
  • Almonds 3 tbsps
  • Dates, chopped 2½ tbsps
  • Desiccated coconut 3 tbsps
  • Lemon juice 2 tsps


  • Dry roast 1 cup oats in a non-stick pan till the colour changes slightly.  
  • Put 3 tbsps almonds, dates, desiccated coconut and dried cherries in a blender jar and blend. 
  • Put the roasted oats in the blender along with lemon juice and 3 tbsps honey and blend on high speed. Add some more honey if it is dry and blend again.
  • Line a baking tray with cling film, put the mixture on it and level the top.  
  • Place the baking tray in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or till the mixture sets.  
  • Bring the tray out and cut them into bars. Wrap the bars aluminium foil and serve.
