Sorghum flour cooked with ripe bananas, milk and jaggery to make a nutritious halwa


  • Sorghum (jowar) flour 1 cup
  • Ripe bananas, chopped 2
  • Ghee 2 tbsps
  • Milk 3 cups
  • Jaggery, chopped ¼ cup
  • Banana slices a few for garnish


  • Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add sorghum flour and sauté on medium heat for 1-2 minutes or till it turns light brown in color.
  • Add chopped bananas and mix. Mash the bananas while mixing.
  • Add milk, mix well and cook on medium heat, stirring continuously, so that no lumps remain.
  • Add jaggery, mix well and cook on a medium heat, stirring continuously, till jaggery dissolves completely.
  • Transfer the sheera into a serving bowl, garnish with banana slices and serve lukewarm.
