Pears poached in grape juice and served filled with cream cheese mixture


  • Pears 4
  • Grape juice 1½ cups
  • Orange rind 2 strips
  • Cinnamon 2 one-inch sticks
  • Icing sugar ⅓ cup
  • Cream cheese ½ cup
  • Hung yogurt ⅓ cup
  • Pistachios, chopped a few


  • Heat grape juice in a deep non-stick pan, reduce heat add orange rind and cinnamon sticks and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Peel and halve the pears and scoop out the centre of each pear.
  • Add the pears to the grape juice mixture and continue to cook till the pears soften.
  • Take icing sugar, cream cheese and hung yogurt in a bowl and mix well.
  • Take pears out of the grape juice mixture and place them on a serving plate. Transfer the grape juice into a serving bowl.
  • Fill the scooped center of the pears with the cream cheese mixture.
  • Sprinkle some pistachios over the pears and serve with the grape juice mixture.
