Dalia cooked with vegetables makes a healthy snack


  • Broken wheat (dalia) ¾ cup
  • Medium carrot, chopped 1
  • French beans, chopped ½ cup
  • Green peas, blanched ½ cup
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Green chillies, chopped 2 tsps
  • Curry leaves 8 to 10
  • Large onion, chopped 1
  • Medium tomato, chopped 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped 2 tbsps


  • Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add cumin seeds, green chillies and curry leaves and saute for 1 minute
  • Add carrot, onion and French beans, mix and saute for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add broken wheat, tomato and green peas, mix and saute for1 minute.
  • Add 1½ cups hot water and mix well. Let the mixture come to a boil.
  • Add salt and mix well and cook till done.
  • Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
